1. Fellowship 사업의 목적

HK사업과 연관된 국외 연구자를 일정 기간 단기 초청하여 강독회 및 워크샾을 통해 국내외의 연구인력과 대학, 연구소와 교류를 확대하고자 함.

4. 지원자격

1) 학력 : 대학원 박사과정 이상

2) 기타

(1) Fellowship 기간 중 계속해서 한국에 체류할 수 있는 자

(2) 연구체류지에서 아무 지장 없이 활동할 수 있는 건강한 자

(3) 연구활동을 하기에 충분한 한국어 혹은 외국어 능력을 소유한 자

(4) Fellowship 기간중 한국에서 정기적인 보수가 있는 직업에 종사하지 않을 것

(5) 과거에 본 연구소 Fellowship을 받은 적이 있는 경우, 그 기간이 종료한 후 3년 이상 경과한 자

(6) 합격자에 한하여 개별 통보하며, 2011년 8월 1일 부로 한국에 올 수 있어야 함.

5. 지원내용

1) 외국인

(1) 체류비 : 월 200만원-400만원(경력에 따른 산정)

(2) 기숙사 제공

(3) 연구공간

(4) 항공료 지급

※ 본국에서 한국까지의 최단거리 한국내 공항 기준 이코노미 클래스 1회 왕복운임

※ 동반자나 가족의 항공료, 국내교통비, 출발 전 숙박비, 짐 운반비 등은 지원 대상에서 제외

※ Fellowship 기간이 시작되기 전부터 이미 한국에 체류 중인 경우, 혹은 기간이 끝난 후에도 계속해서 체류할 경우에는 출입국시의 항공료가 지급되지 않음

7. 지원서류

1) Fellowship 신청서 1부 (내국인: HWP 양식, 외국인: MS-WORD 양식)

2) 연구계획서 1부

3) 추천서 1부

※ 해당 연구 분야를 전공하는 대학 교원 혹은 연구기관에서 근무하는 연구원이 작성한 것.

4) 최종 학력의 수료(졸업)증명서 1부 (학위증은 불가)

※ 박사논문을 준비하고 있는 경우에는 필요한 학점을 취득하고 박사논문을 제출할 자격을 증명하는 서류.

8. Fellowship을 받는 자의 의무

선정된 자가 Fellowship을 수락할 경우, 불교문화연구소에서 제시하는 조건서 내용에 동의 필요. 조건서 내용은 다음과 같음

1) 외국인 Fellowship 기간 중에는 한국 내에 계속해서 체류해야 함

2) 연구활동이나, 부득이한 이유로 잠시 출국할 경우에는 출국 일주일 전까지 연구소장에게 통지하여야 함

3) 체류연구기간 중, 매월 말일까지 정기보고서를 연구소장에게 제출하여 연구진척상황이나 활동상황에 관해 보고해야 함

4) Fellowship의 연구 성과에 의한 저작, 논문 등을 발표할 경우 Fellowship을 받은 성과임을 기재하고, 본 연구소에 한 부 제출해야 함

GCBS Fellowship Program Seeks Domestic or Foreign Scholars for Humanities Korea Project of Buddhist Studies

1. Purpose of the Fellowship Program

The Geumgang Center for Buddhist Studies (GCBS) Fellowship Program for Humanities Korea (HK) Project of Buddhist Studies is designed to provide foreign doctoral candidates or post-docs an opportunity to carry out their research at Geumgang University in Korea, cooperating with faculties of GCBS in reading sessions and workshops for a limited period.

2. Fields of Research

Each field of research should have relation to the HK Project of GCBS which is subdivided into the following areas:

1) Indo-Tibetan Buddhism: Philological research on the texts written in Sanskrit, Pali, or Tibetan. Philosophical research on Indian or Tibetan Buddhist texts. Research on the origin and development of the basic concepts of Mahayana Buddhism. Research on the inception and the spread of Buddhism in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Tibet.

2) East Asian Buddhism: Research on the Buddhist sects in the fifth-sixth centuries of China. Research on the theoretical basis of the major Buddhist sects of China. Research on Korean and Japanese Buddhism.

3) Historical and Cultural Studies: Research on the Buddhist influence on the cultural changes of life-style in East Asia. Research on the hagiographies of East Asian monks and nuns.

3. The Period of Fellowship

Short period: 3 months(August, 2011 ~ October, 2011)

4. Eligibility

1) Ph. D. Holders or Doctoral candidates.

2) Other requirements:

(1) Applicants should stay in Korea during the fellowship period with GCBS as the primary work-place (field-work and travels are permitted).

(2) Applicants should be healthy for research in Korea (travelers insurance required).

(3) Applicants should have a language capability for research in Korea (Korean, English, Japanese, or Chinese).

(4) Applicants should have no other job with regular payment within Korea during the fellowship period.

(5) Applicants who have been awarded fellowships from any Korean institutes or who have received a GCBS fellowship within the last three years are not eligible.

(6) Only accepted applicants are informed individually. They should arrive at Korea on the date of August 1, 2011.

5. Fellowship Grant

1) Foreign Scholars

(1) Monthly stipend: 2,000,000 ~ 4,000,000 KRW

(2) Dormitory room

(3) Research space

(4) Economy-class round-trip airfare by shortest distance from home country to Korea with a Korean air company.

* Except the airfare, there will be no other support.

*For example, family members or other accompanying persons are not supported. *Boarding fee outside Korea, domestic transportation fee or luggage fee is not supported.

1) Application Submit Period: June 21, 2011 ~ June 30, 2011.

7. Required Materials

1) Application Form (Domestic: HWP format, Foreign: MS word format)

2) Research Proposal

3) Recommendation Letter written by university faculty member or institute researcher majoring in the related research field.

4) Evidence of Ph. D. or Evidence of current enrollment at a university proving that the applicant is qualified for submitting doctoral dissertation, having passed necessary academic courses.

8. Duty of the Fellowship Recipient

The Fellowship Recipient should agree to the following conditions.

1) The Recipient should continue to stay within Korea for the fellowship period.

2) For temporary leaving Korea due to research activities or other inevitable activities, the recipient should inform the director of the GCBS at least 1 one week earlier.

3) During stay within Korea, the recipient should submit monthly report to the director of the GCBS by the end of every month about his or her research progress or activities.

4) When the recipient publishes articles or books from research achievements by fellowship, he or she should submit 1 copy of them to the GCBS, always marking that his or her work was supported by the fellowship.
